As mentioned in our earlier post, Helsinki and Finland in general have many unique, local foods and delicacies worth trying. In addition to traditional options we also have many modern restaurants that cater to every possible need. Here is a list of a few in case you need some inspiration for breakfast, a coffee break, or dinner outside of the conference hours.
Accessibility
We (the WordCamp Nordic 2019 team) want anyone who is interested in attending the conference both to be able to do so and also to feel welcome and taken care of. Julius Haukkasalo
Julius Haukkasalo is one of the co-founders of Evermade, a Helsinki-based digital agency founded in 2011. Co-founding and building a company from a group of guys working in a tiny garage to a company of 30 people, the 30-year-old designer-come-entrepreneur has had the opportunity to follow firsthand the life and times of people that live & breath the agency life. With all the ups and downs that come with it.
Laura Hinkkanen
Laura is a Strategist and Content Lead in strategy, design, and application development company called Frantic. She has a background in communications, marketing, and digital service design and her passion is everything that relates to content – from conversations to storytelling. With the help of empathy and strategic mindset, she dives deep into new organizations and businesses, and she’s good at making complex things seem effortless and easy.
Piccia Neri
Piccia Neri has a background in art theory, and has been a practicing designer for over 2 decades, working with cultural institutions and top London agencies on global brands. Piccia led the creative direction of the design department at the British Film Institute, London. She was vice-president of the Chartered Society of Designers (UK) 2013-16.
Piccia runs her own web & design consultancy agency out of Valencia, Spain. She educates geeks on design and speaks at conferences on design topics.
Sarah Semark
Sarah Semark calls herself a “designer who codes”. After spending eight years freelancing, she now works for Automattic, where she works on new products & emerging technologies.
She lives in Scotland in a small flat with tall ceilings, but can often be found tapping away anywhere there’s a power outlet—from Soviet sleeper trains to a hut in the Amazon. When she’s not busy making things, Sarah likes obsessing over typography, collecting impractical footwear, and exploring new places.
Join us for the after-party
The after-party for WordCamp Nordic will be held at restaurant Paasi on Friday 8th March from 19:00 (7 pm). The restaurant is located in the same building as the actual conference.
The conference day should end around 17:30 (5:30 pm) so you will have some time to grab dinner or just rest a little bit before joining the party.
Drink tickets will be given upon arrival so please remember to bring your conference badge with you. The after-party will be a relaxed event with some music and great company, which makes it an excellent option to get to know your fellow conference attendees better and converse with WordPress professionals from all over the Nordic (and other) communities.
The event will go on approximately until 23:00 (11 pm).
We hope to see you there!
